SaaS development: from product idea to a subscription product in production
We build the software, the subscription model, and the operations platform that let one product be sold to many customers without being rebuilt for each. That is how our own product Jobbkontroll is built, in production with paying customers — and how we built RoboConnect, a two-sided B2B platform, for RoboConnect AS.
TL;DR
SaaS development at WOLLUM means building a subscription product that many customers use at the same time — with a multi-tenant data model, sign-in, payments, and operations that scale with the number of customers. We take the product from idea to a first version with pilot customers in 8–12 weeks and keep developing it based on real usage. Jobbkontroll, the product we co-own, build, and operate, is in production with paying customers: many companies in one system, with strict separation of each company's data and one flat price per company. RoboConnect, a two-sided B2B platform we built for RoboConnect AS, went from prototype to pilot-ready MVP with the same method.
SaaS development (Software as a Service) is building software delivered as a cloud subscription, where many customers share the same codebase and infrastructure but each has their own data, users, and settings. That sets different requirements than an internal system: multi-tenant architecture, self-service onboarding, subscriptions and payments, and operations that handle growth without costs outrunning revenue.
What is included
Product scoping and first version
We define what the first version must contain for customers to adopt it, and what can wait. The goal is a product customers pay for, not a feature list.
Multi-tenant architecture and payments
One codebase, strict data separation per customer, roles and permissions, subscriptions and payments by card, Vipps, or invoice — suited to Norwegian business customers.
Operations, scaling, and ongoing development
Cloud infrastructure, monitoring, backups, and zero-downtime deployments. After launch we keep building in fixed iterations based on what customers actually use.
Typical delivery
8–12 weeks to a first version with pilot customers
Product scoping and architecture in weeks 1–2. Iterative build with weekly deliveries from week 2. First version in production with pilot customers from weeks 8–12, then further development in fixed iterations. A complete product for a broader market typically takes 3–6 months.
How pricing works
Pricing is set after a scoping phase, as a fixed price per phase.
What you walk away with
- A subscription product in production that can be sold to many customers without new development per customer
- Architecture, payments, and operations that scale with the number of customers
- Full source code, data, and infrastructure in your hands

Frequently asked questions
- What does it cost to develop a SaaS product?
- We do not quote prices before the scope is known. Pricing is set after a scoping phase, as a fixed price per phase. The first step is a product scoping phase with a fixed price, where we define the first version and give a binding quote for it.
- Do we own the source code of the product?
- Yes, fully. Source code, data, design, and infrastructure are yours from day one. We can operate and develop the product further, but you are free to take it forward yourself or with another team.
- What separates SaaS from an ordinary custom system?
- A custom system is built for one business. A SaaS product is used by many customers at once and therefore needs a multi-tenant data model, self-service onboarding, subscriptions and payments, and an operating cost that stays low per customer. That shapes the architecture from the first line of code. Against digital product development the line is simpler: product development takes the idea to a validated first version; SaaS development turns it into a subscription product for many customers.
