Supplier Document Requirements List

A Supplier Document Requirements List (SDRL) is the customer's list of which documents a supplier must deliver, in what format and by when, as part of the contract or purchase order.

Also known as: SDRL, VDRL, Vendor Document Requirements List, document requirements list

The SDRL comes with the purchase order and makes the documentation requirements concrete. Each line is a document or document type, with a code, a description, a due date tied to a milestone and whether the document goes for approval or for information only. Some customers call it a VDRL (Vendor Document Requirements List). The supplier uses the SDRL as a checklist throughout the project: drawings and procedures are submitted for comment early, revised and approved, while certificates and test reports arrive along the way and end up in the MRB at delivery. The status of each document, from revision to submitted, commented and approved, has to be tracked as the project runs. A missing document at delivery can hold up both acceptance and payment.

In Norwegian context

NORSOK Z-018 describes supplier documentation for equipment and is a common reference for the document codes in SDRLs in Norwegian oil and gas. Individual customers may still have their own codes and requirements, so the SDRL in the contract is what applies.
